Minigolf tournaments in Stratford-upon-Avon this weekend

The Minigolf Course in Stratford-upon-Avon will play host to two minigolf tournaments on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of June as the British Minigolf Association holds the BMGA English Open and BMGA British Club Championships.

30 players will be taking part in the BMGA English Open and eight teams will be competing for the top team title in the BMGA Club Championship. Places are still available for the BMGA English Open and entry costs £15 for three rounds of competition minigolf and free practice on Friday 6th June.

In addition to the main prizes local and novice players are eligible to play for a £50 prize for the top novice player in the English Open Competition.

Defending BMGA English Open champion John ‘Big Top Ted’ McIver said “I am really looking forward to playing in the tournaments this weekend and I am keen to retain the English Open title.”

McIver is also the Co-Captain of last years BMGA British Club Champions the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club.

Heading into the BMGA English Open as the leader of the BMGA order of Merit rankings is Birmingham’s Chris Harding who is hoping for another good performance at the course where he won the Midland Invitational Tournament in April.

Chris is followed in the top 5 by Andy Exall, Tim Davies, John Moore and John McIver who, with the exception of Exall, will also be hoping to win the tournament and take with them the valuable ranking points on offer.

Chris, who is also the Captain of the Midlands Minigolf Club, said, “It's always great to be playing on such a wonderful course as Stratford. The competition has taken on greater significance with the rankings being so close. The English Open has a high class field and I will need to perform well to maintain my number one ranking.”

He added ”Regarding the Team Championships now is the time for the balance of power to switch from the South to the Midlands. I am very proud to be leading such a talented group of people.”

The current BMGA course record at Stratford-upon-Avon is 31 set by Chris Harding in April this year at the Midland Invitational Tournament.
